Some spaces are built to function. Others are built to feel like something. Neon Rated is firmly in the second category.

This is the headquarters of a film company, and every design decision in this space reflects that. The architecture, the interiors, the art on the walls — it all speaks the language of cinema. When AM Light Studio came on board, the challenge was to develop a lighting design that could hold its own in a space that already had a very clear identity, without overshadowing it.

The lobby sets the tone from the moment you walk in. Warm amber light washes across rich wood paneling while the Neon Rated signage glows against the dark backdrop — confident, cinematic, immediately on-brand. It doesn't try to impress you. It just does. That's exactly the kind of restraint that takes real intention to pull off.

The workspaces carry that same warmth into a different register. Track lighting and pendant fixtures layer over exposed timber structure, keeping the environment feeling human and focused rather than corporate. The goal was a space where creative people actually want to spend time — where the lighting supports deep work without feeling clinical, and where the connection to natural light through the glazed partitions stays alive throughout the day.

Then there's the screening room, and this is where the lighting design earns its full keep. A private cinema demands a very specific kind of darkness — controlled, immersive, with just enough light to orient the room without pulling you out of the film. Recessed ceiling points and slim wall fixtures frame the space with precision. Toekick lighting keeps the floor plane readable. The screen does the rest.

Each zone in this space serves a different purpose and speaks a different lighting language. The throughline is the same one that runs through every great film: atmosphere built with intention, emotion created through what you choose to show and what you leave in the dark.

Neon Rated isn't finished yet. But the vision is already fully in frame.
