1111 HTX Restaurant — Hospitality Lighting Design, Houston, TX

There's a particular kind of magic that happens in a great restaurant — where the food, the music, and the room itself all pull you into the same feeling. That was the goal at 1111 HTX, and lighting was central to making it happen.

The concept draws inspiration from Mexico City — a city that knows how to balance beauty and energy, intimacy and spectacle. Working alongside Nina Magon Studio, we approached the lighting not as a finish but as a layer of the architecture itself. Every zone in the space tells a slightly different story, and the light had to shift to match.

In the lounge, we let the sculptural forms lead. Cove lighting traces the curves of the custom panels from behind, making the walls feel like they're glowing rather than lit. It's a subtle distinction, but guests feel it — the room has a warmth that doesn't announce itself. The biophilic wall installations pick up just enough light to read as living texture in an otherwise dark, moody space.

The restrooms were one of our favorite parts of this project. Too often they're an afterthought — but here, Nina's team designed spaces that deserved real attention. The terracotta plasterwork and Moorish arch details practically asked for warm, architectural uplighting, and we were happy to oblige. Guests walk in and genuinely pause. That's the reaction you want.

At the bar, the priority was balance — enough light for the team to work precisely, not so much that it breaks the atmosphere the rest of the room worked hard to build. It's a tension that comes up in every hospitality project, and one we've learned to enjoy solving.
